PURPOSE OF POSITION

Are you a young, driven professional looking for an opportunity to develop your professional skills in a dynamic and stimulating environment? Then we’d love you to join our River Operations team as Manager Onboard Operations.

As Manager Onboard Operations, you will be part of the Onboard Operations Department, reporting to the Senior Manager Onboard Operations, working closely with the corporate teams, as well as directly with the Hotel Managers and Guest Services Teams. This role requires with very limited travel.

Working in operations, you will be involved in, and gain insight into, virtually every aspect of onboard operations, with the overall objective being to assist the ship teams in optimizing their administrative duties so that they can focus fully on offering the expected guest experience.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that all ship reporting is filed in a timely and compliant manner so as to guarantee company statistics and analytical insights are based on solid and correct facts of the day-to-day operations.

This role is based in our Operational Head Office in Basel, Switzerland. Please note that we can only accept applicants who are eligible to work in Switzerland or in possession of a valid work permit.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Being the link between the river fleet and the customer relations teams in the US, the UK and Australia
  • Assisting with mediating on complaint and insurance issues
  • Assisting the ships with any ongoing operational challenges, and following up with the relevant departments and support teams until resolution
  • Monitoring Accident and Illness case management
  • Assisting all departments with proof-reading and formatting of company SOPs
  • Collecting and controlling of ship-based reporting: Quality Reports, Cruise Reports, Financial Reports and Season End Checklists
  • Supporting the onboard financial controlling function as needed   
  • Maintaining databases and intranet sources

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An international background or experience is desirable to work with multi-cultural colleagues across the various offices
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint and PowerPoint
  • US affinity - understanding of North American culture is very helpful
  • Service oriented and guest focused
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Proficient in English; German is an additional asset
  • Communicative and outgoing personality
  • Ability to work efficiently and at speed under pressure

PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • The Executive Housekeeper oversees a variety of housekeeping functions to ensure the smooth running of the daily operation of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments, which consists of approximately 90 – 100 Officers and Crew.
  • The Housekeeping Department is responsible for the cleanliness of Guest staterooms & officers’ cabins, the presentation of the ship, its public areas & back of house, and the maintenance upkeep of these areas. The Laundry Department is responsible for the provision of clean linen to the various areas onboard i.e. Guest Staterooms, food & beverage and various public areas. It is also responsible for managing the cleaning services for employee uniforms, Guest laundry and dry-cleaning.
